Has anyone had a fish grieve when a mate dies?

this is my male gold sailfin molly. He eats ok but isn't enthusiastic about it and there is 1 female with him (to recap... i had 3 gold sailfin mollies...2 F/1M... i bought one male and female together from 1 aq shop but since they would only sell pairs i had to get him another female from a dif aq shop... she was smaller than the pair... the 2 F's had babies and the F of the pair died about 5 days later...) the male doesn't pay any attention to the F left even tho she seeks him out. he has no outward signs of fungus or any other thing wrong. i want to get another female but don't want to stress him out anymore. BTW the frmale is eating like a piggy begs for food and is always searching for food...Very active) these are the only fish in a heavily salted 20L w/fluval cannister and a 10" bubble stone and plastic plants
my question is could he be a one woman fish ? (and they are Livebearers... where the males are usually chasing any available skirt:))

Never known it with livebearers. However, some years ago my male Firemouth stood guard over his dying mate so she wasn't pecked at by the other fish. Even when she had expired, he carried on his duties (ahhh!), even to the point of getting into a massive fight with the plec (twice his size) who had other ideas about what should happen to dead fish. It was weeks before the holes in the plec's dorsal healed.

He was never happy after that, and soon pined away.
