Hi guys and gals, just wanted to let you in on my experience with HC cuba.
I put it in and planted just a few tuffs and left the rest floating. The stuff that was floating was left up there to get more light and remain alive should the stuff in the floor die as my tank is only 1WPG. I noted that on the 8th day of the plants been planted the Cuba had started to melt back, slightly concerned I got on the internet and read that I should increase Co2, well, I did just this and gradually over time I started to turn the Co2 down, we are now 4 months down the line and I am glad to report that the Cuba is growing nicely and has started to carpet too.
So, for those who are still running low light but want a nice carpeting plant, hc cuba is the way to go, just remember if you see it melting crank up the co2 (I set mine to 4 bps in a 50 litre tank) this tank had 6 cherry shrimp so I want overly concerned about Co2 poisoning as they were new born from my main tank. Gradually reduce co2 when you get nice green leaves, I am now at 0.5 bubble a sec in my 50 litre tank. it takes work and time, but you c an do it. just don't let Co2 be the limiting factor for the first few months, you have to kinda wean the plant off the co2.
