acocacolagirl,
Glad to hear things are going better. I've had a discouraging couple of days myself. I did some things wrong, so most of it's really my own fault.
I upgraded my 55 about a month ago and added some new fish and ended up with ich a couple of weeks into it. Thanks to the great ich article here, I treated with salt & heat and the ich appears to be gone. I've turned the heat down a bit, but still using 2tsp of salt (thought I saw one more spot a couple of days ago.)
Unfortunately.......there may have been a secondary infection as both of my beautiful yelllow/orange sailfin mollies died yesterday, and my lyretail dalmation molly is not looking good either. One of the sailfins edded up with a very quick case of dropsy and died shortly after. The other one just became lethargic and ended up resting at the bottom. My lyrtail dalmation molly is using only his fron fins (more one side than the other) and hardly any body movement to swim.
I'm not sure, but it also appears that a couple of other fish ~may~ have a very small spot of mouth fungus, but it's looking ok, and I just did a significant water change last night, and I'm hoping for continued improvement tonight.
Most of the other appear to be ok aside for a couple that are hanging around at the surface alot more that I'd like, even though I've got heavy filter flow action to oxygenate.
It appears that everyone else is going to be ok except for maybe the dalmation molly, and I'm trying to figure out which medication(s) to use on him as I now have a quarrantine/hospital tank ready for use. Sometimes there so much information regarding disease treatment, I'm getting paralysis by analysis.
I also used transfered most of my old tank water when upgrading my tank and hood.....bad idea as my old tank wasn't that well maintained and I now have a bit of brown algea on the glass. I've got one of the magnetic glass cleaners and I'm not worried about this problem once I do a couple more significant water changes.
Anyway, I made up my mind last night that I'm going to keep-on-keepin'-on.
The good news is that I didn't yet mail order the 6 or 7 empreror tetras I was going to, so I can wait until everything is cleared.......AND USE MY QUARRANTINE TANK after buying them!
Anyway, hang in there! We'll get this stuff licked....and learn from these experiences (not say yours is your fault)...and be better, more knowledgeable fish keepers because of it with the help of many of the people here!
Wishing you the best! :dive:
