heater light stuck on

Hello,
I got a heater in oct. and removed it from the tank and tossed it in basket until today. I plugged it in and the bottom half of the light stays on all the time. When I turn the dial to get the heater to come on, it lights up the second half.

I don't plan on using it full time, as my ambient temp is fine. I just want to be able to leave it for a few hours and know that I won't have cooked tank soup.

Is my heater dead?

What kind of heater is it? Chances are it is dead.

if you don't trust it, get a new one. it's not worth the risk, and a bnew one wont break the bank.
