Heater Question

I just got a new heater for my 10 gallon betta tank. Its the submergable kind (looks identical to the one thats in the topic "aquascaping ideas" - theres a picture of a tank)

Now my question is this - its made for a 25 gallon tank. But my tank is only 10 gallons. My hubby bought it for me and said he wanted to get me the bigger one in case I ever decide to put it on the bigger tank. He said the only difference between that and a 10 gallon one is that it will heat the water quicker when the temp fluctuates. Now is this safe for my tank>>??

It has some condinsation INSIDE the tube. SHould I take it back for a new one - will this give me problems later on??

I would take it back just for the heck of it - it really shouldn't have much if any condensation. And by the way - a higher wattage heater is better - more efficient.
 
If you were buying a used heater, I would say keep it, but since it is new, you should take it back....Would you buy a car for full price that was dried out from a flood? Take it back!!
 
Nearly all heaters have some condensation inside. Its entirely normal and will not cause any problems.
 
But its 100 watts. This seems kinda extreme dont ya think? But it says for up to 25 gallons...
 
You should be fine, just set the temp and it will turn off when it hits there. As stated your heater should be more efficeint since it will not be on as much as a smaller heater. And when you get a bigger tank, and we all do, you are already set up with the heater.
