My dad-in-law has had a 55G tank for years but has been in the hospital and the tank has since been emptied.
I want to help him, but have no prior fish knowledge. We filled it last week and hooked up the two filters. Each filter has a foam insert and little white bags filled with charcoal. They suck in and act like waterfalls to put the water back over the top into the tank. He has about 5 different air pumps in various sizes. No fish yet but I'm curious as to how big the air pumps (cfm)? need to be for a 55G tank?
He had catfish and Pakus (one was about a foot and a half) before and will probably go with those again.
I'm reading about water cycling and daily testing but I've never seen him test his water. He just had hoses all over the place. Thanks.
