I'm quite new to this forum and just want to say Hello to all.
After 25 years without, I'm now again the proud owner of a 120g tank.
Lots has changed since then, and I have to learn a lot more about fishkeeping. But with the internet available, things are by far easier today than is was at that time.

I'm living in China, on the mainland close to Hong Kong. Fish in China are kept for good luck, (Feng Shui, a spiritual thing) rather than as a hobby.
There is very little respect for the living beeings, but as many people have fish at home, there is a rather huge availability. But most dealers have no or very little knowledge about fish, don't even know the names of them or how to keep them. (OK, the language also plays a role, my chinese is still very limited)
Most shops also present a very poor picture with many dead fish in the tanks.

I'm interested in plants and Corys, don't really know which comes first...
Fish and plants are very, very cheap here. A mat sized 5x5 inch tenellus, for example only 50 cents. You can get a bag with about 40 to 50 neon for 2 US$. temptation to buy too many fish is very, very high, but as I respect live I managed so far to keep the fish population low.
The tap water is chlorinated, often far off the scale, but it is also extremely soft, with 0GH and a KH of 4 to 5.

I hope to meet interesting people to share knowledge and experiece with in this forum, people from all arround the world.
