I am not fond of adding any chemicals to "speed up the cycle". Unless you are adding bio-spira to the tank, don't waste your time and energy adding stuff like cycle or bio-zyme to the tank. The bacteria will find their way into the tank and divide at the same rate regardless of what chemicals you add to the tank. Bio-spira is the exception because that is the only product that contains the proper bacteria in large enough numbers to "instantly" cycle a tank. If you choose to get a bio-wheel filter, leave the other filter on the tank until 1 week after the tank fully cycles to allow the bio-wheel to grow bacteria.
Like TKOS said, waterchanges are essential. Keep Ammonia below 1.0 though below 0.5 is my goal usually. Nitrites must be kept as low as possible. 0.25 is the highest I would go with the Nitrites. Nitrite poisoning is the same as Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. It prevents the fish's blood from carrying oxygen and can kill very quickly.
