Hi, one of my fish has this blister on its head. I've tried to look online for ways to treating it but I haven't seen anything that looks like what's on my fish.

The other goldfish look like they're doing okay... I've looked up different types of medication but I'm not sure whether to get Melafix or Pimafix for it.

Is it a fungus disease on my goldfish? From what I've read so far, Pimafix cures fungal diseases, and Melafix treats diseases like cloudy eye, popeye, fin rot, etc.

Thanks!

1. Size of aquarium (# of gallons)
2. How long the aquarium has been set up?
3. What fish and how many are in the aquarium (species are important to know)
4. Are there live plants in the aquarium?
5. What temperature is the tank water currently?
6. When did you perform your last water exchange, and how much water was changed?
7. How often do you perform water changes?
8. How often and what foods do you feed your fish?
9. What are your water parameters? Test your pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.
10. When was the last time you bought a fish and how did they behave while in the pet store tank?

Gotta answer the above questions.;) Also, a picture is worth a thousand words. Don't use any meds yet without properly identifying the situation.

I had 4 goldfish, around 11 inches from head to tail. I had them in my 135 gallon before with several other fish, but because the goldfish weren't getting along with my other fish after a while, I decided to put them out into a pond. I know it was a bad time to try to put them out in the pond :( I didn't cycle the pond yet.

One of them just died today, I got really upset, and got my boyfriend to get his 30 gallon out of the garage and set it up. We then took some tank water from the 135 gallon, used one of the filters that we already had up in one of our other tanks, put an air tube in there, and transferred the goldfish from the pond to the 30 gallon. We made sure that the temperature was similar to the temperature outside, then we put the heater in and let the temperature slowly rise.

Two of the fish seem okay, although they're still moving around pretty slowly.. the one that has that thing on his head is up at the top a lot, seems like it's trying to get air. I would think it's a fungus infection, but it's not "cottony", just looks like a blister.

Is it early signs of a fungus infection?

I would take pictures, but I don't want to stress them out anymore tonight, and it's really late.

Fungus does not usually happen unless there is an open wound left untreated. It is basically a secondary infection. Without the picture, it is hard to imagine how the blister would exactly look on its head. What is the temperature of the tank right now? If you are increasing it, switch on airpumps to prevent lack of oxygen. Keep a watch on your water parameters. If anything goes wrong, do a water change immediately to minimize stress.

I tried taking a pic of the fish with the blister looking thing.

It's not always at the top now like last night... and it's swimming around more.

The temperature is at 75 degrees right now, and I'll test the water parameters right now.
