and also how would i get my low 6.5 ph to 8.5 ph for the african cichlids please tell thanks a bunch \

one male and a few females would be fine for a tank that size. Males have the cool "mask" appearance. Basically, a hardy fish.

Use a substrate of crushed coral or limestone chips to raise the PH. However, if your tap water is naturally at 6.5, you are going to need to continually add buffers whenever you do water changes. I don't think the above-mentioned substrates can boost the PH that high starting from 6.5.

sorry...in my seven years I have no experience with Kigomas......

Merged two threads requesting info on the same subject.

Having said that, Chalinochromis brichardi would not match well with Neolamprologus brichardi in a 35 gallon tank. That is too small an area, and neither species would be able to establish what it feels to be a comfortable territory. This would lead to conflict and loss.

Either species alone, however, should do OK in that tank. You could add some Synodontis petricola to the tank to give it some additional activity without causing territorial conflict.

Good luck. By the way, if you can find them, the Baensch atlases (vols 1-3) are probably the best reference work on freshwater species available. Even better than the info you can find online, sometimes!
