My pressure filter, an Oase Filtoclear 800, has a potentially fatal flaw. I was in the process of replacing the UV lamp. This requires the removal of the UV transformer and then a retaining ring is removed to free the quartz lamp cover. Well, the threads that the retaining ring screw into just fell apart! It will cost about $150 for a replacement UV transformer. :mad2::silly:

Is this to be expected? The filter is three years old.
Anyone else have this filter?
I'm not interested in repair if I can only expect a few years life out of the new part. That brings me to my next question. If I were to replace the filter with another brand, what do you use? Has it been durable?
