More problems from my problem tank.

When I went to bed lastnight, my opiline gourami had a light blue head. This morning, one side of his head was completely black.

On the same side, he had a swollen gill and black spot near the fin by the gill about two weeks ago. There also appeared to be some oozing from the gill. The swelling went down, and nothing is coming out of the gill anymore, but the spot by the fin remained and he doesn't use that fin much, but the lfs suggested it was an injury and that if he was eating not to worry. And he is eating, so I wasnt worried until this morning! Havent fed yet today, so I dont know if he is eating today.

Any ideas???

Well, this is the first time that this fish has not charged his food whole heartedly, but he may have eaten a bite or two.

Here is a picture of his new color scheme. And to be honest, with my luck, I don't expect him to live more than a day or two.

I don't have much of an answer, but I found with my angelfish that rising the temp. to 88-90, and a steady dose of Coppersafe, Maroxy, aquarium salt, anti-parasite medication food, and stress reliever sure got her back on her feet/fins. I wasn't sure what she had, so I aggressively attacked everything: internal/external parasites. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Well, went to check for bloating, and he was dead. :(

But, not bloated, most of his body was black and there was a definate swelling or distortion on the side of the head where the swelling started.

I will try to keep that link in mind and check there first next time I have a problem.

Thanks anyway.
