For the last couple of days, I have been noticing that my male CPD hasn't been eating. He has been hiding out behind the HOB filter. I tried lastnight and then again this morning giving him brine shrimp. I don't think he has ate any. He has gotten majorly skinny. His fins are clamped. Now I've noticed he's pretty listless. The filter current pushes him around. I do believe he will be DOA by the end of the day if I don't do something!

Tanks:
10 Gallons, moderately planted.
pH: 7.6
Temp: 78 degrees
Nitrates: 5ish
Nitrites: 0
Ammonia: 0
Tank mates: 1 female CPD, 6 Gertrudae Rainbows.

There is no other signs of disease with any of the other fish. All are eating just fine and overly active as usual.

Ahhh! I've never dealt with any sort of diseases. The only meds I have on hand are Prazi & Aquarium Salt. No hope of getting anything else until this evening, which will be too late!

Ok so I've removed him from the tank and put him in a specimen cup with an air stone. I hope someone can help.

He's still alive, but I don't know what to do for him. I'm really considering treating him with PraziPro. It's the only thing I have. I went med shopping last night, but after reading the bottles and what not, decided against treating him with them. He doesn't have any visible signs of disease so the only thing I can think is it could be a parasite... which Prazi is for. I just don't know if it's too late. He basically just lays at the bottom of the specimen cup. *sigh*
Should I treat the entire tank with PraziPro just to be safe? I feel so helpless.

Use PraziPro. You can try treating your tank for internal parasites. Levamisole hydrochloride or flubendazole is usually more effective as both cover a wide range of parasites.

Thanks Lupin! After work I will make a huge water change and treat the whole tank with the Prazi. I guess it's better to be safe than to be sorry. Everyone else in there seems fine for now. Still no visible signs of illness. I'll check into the meds that you mentioned. I was looking at some at the lfs yesterday but they all seemed to be for external issues (fin rot, pop eye, ick, wounds, etc.) so I opted out of getting them. Maybe I should have. Ugh. :(

Use the prazipro on the sick one as that's what you have - you might as well it seems. I wouldn't treat the tank just yet, and unless you see symptoms in another fish. And lupin has given you some other treatments to try and get your hands on; hopefully that won't prove necessary.

Thanks Coler. I will certainly look into getting those meds that Lupin mentioned just to keep on hand. I guess it never hurts to have a fishy medicine cabinet. I've never had illness in any of my tanks. I guess I've been fortunate. I ordered the Prazipro with intentions of "stocking" meds and then never continued to do so. So, I suppose, I will only treat the ill one for now.

Oh my!

I treated a 5 gallon bucket of old tank water from his (former) tank of residence with the Prazipro. I then took out about two cups of the water and placed him in it. Now he's swimming around to the best of his ability. At this point, I'd consider it that he's freaking out, but I'm not sure. I also dropped a flake of food in. Perhaps he's trying to eat. I can't tell. I'm hoping that the prazi isn't "hurting" him in any way. I'm starting to wonder if I should consider euthanasia. I don't want him suffering.
