I agree that they are almost certainly a C. afra variety; but I'm more inclined to think that the supposed female is really a sub dominant male. How do these 2 fishes behave to each other?
I have several C afra white tops and they are delightful. As efors said you may have 2 males it's difficult to go by color alone with these guys. Only one male in a tank will color up and the rest will keep female coloring.
thanks for that! I honestly have no idea lol.. It's ok. I enjoy them all and have no interest in the slightest in breeding etc. I hope I have a all male tank to be honest. But whatever it is- its taken many nights if laughter, tears, ripping my hair out etc to get it to this point, and I've enjoyed every minute lol! It's very rewarding and addicting
those 2 afra fish seem oblivious to each other most of the time, on few ocasions though- the one that is deeper colored chases the lighter one and then the lighter one goes into the rocks (submits).. And I know that fish grow (lol) but I keep thinking my tank need the finishing touch. Something truly a showstopper lol.. I don't know what it is But I feel it is missing something.
Not necessarily, my dear friend. It depends on the species chosen and on having just one male of each different species. For this, our friend is doing and will have to do a long trial and error homework; but I see that kee is on the right track. Just go for it buddy! :thm:
