Managed to get some free duck weed from Petsmart earlier and noticed something else floating around in with it. Anyone have an idea of what it might be? (pic 1) The other is the floating stuff in the top right corner, I think its either camboba or hornwart. (pic 2) The third is this bicolored plant, got it along with some mondo grass in two different pieces of drift wood for 4.99 a piece.

Mondo grass (Ophiopogon japonica) and that bicolored plant (Dracaena fragrans) both belong in a pot on the windowsill. They are both terrestrial and will die submerged.

The floater kind of looks like Fairy Moss (Azolla caroliniana) a common pond plant.

For some reason I have mondo grass on the brain, but I'd seen grass like it that said it was but not entirely sure on what it is either.

Hornwort - good to go
ribbon plant - no good

Onna, as confirmed by earlier posters, the floating "feathery" plants next to the duckweed is Azolla. The Ribbon Plant (Dracaena species) is best grown submerged; like Lucky Water Bamboo. Maybe you have a nice vase or can create a bowl with some smooth river rocks and zen-up one of your rooms? I agree about the Mondo Grass; can you take it back? Maybe you can exchange it for some Crypts or Java Ferns? I'm assuming you bought these at Petsmart in those circular plastic tubes? Those things are so conceiving. They almost always have Java Fern in those plastic tubes as well. I would see if you can do a fair exchange. The other plants in your tank is Hornwort and Anacharis. Good luck! :)

I'd take both back if I could but that'd mean giving up the driftwood it came on. I didn't buy the plants them selfs more for the driftwood since its so hard to come by cheap.
