New England Abroad.
These are some woods that I am considering building a desk or a table out of, but since wood is pretty expensive these days, I need to narrow it down. (ok, maybe not, but just pick a few)

Imagine the center of the desk most likely out of the zebrawood, and with some inlay work, and the inside of the drawers lined w/ cedar, but thats pretty vague.

I didnt see it on your list but I wood(pun intended) go with walnut with a natural finish.
I love the look and smell of it.
Or cherry.
The only thing on your list that I like that is farly cheep is the birdseye.
Zebra is very costly here is Colorado.

Anyway good luck and post pics of the finished product.
 
Ok, after some searching, i've decided how i plan to style the desk.

Imperial Style.

Possibly Clawed foot.

side panels different than the front panels and the edges.

Front panel possibly a collection of thin (width) boards that have a sort of "fence" look.

i'm not sure about the inlay, but it would be nice to have some sort of chess board inlaid inot the surface.

Any thoughts?
