help me fill up 120gallon

is that a red terror?.....id be willing to remove it to be able to add more fish.........i thought maybe a oscar....a larger jd.......what else? firemouth? texas cichlid....jag?

you asked for help, i gave it.

theres 6 fish in my 150, 2 fluval 405 canister filters, and 2 penguin 330 power filters, after x-mas they are going into a 250, filters help with big bioloads, but you also need to keep up with the water changes

your fish might be smaller now, which makes the tank seem empty, but they are going to grow fast, you may not want to hear any of this, but its whats going to happen.

you have to consider the future bioload on your tank, with a fish that can top 20 inches..(more realistically it will probably grow to 17-18 inches..) and other that can reach 10-12 inches, and you want to put MORE in
my only suggestion would be dithers, which will probably be eaten by the RT anyway

what are the dimenstions of your tank? someone correct me if im wrong..i might be thinking of a 110 gal..but isnt the width of a 125 18 inches? unless its a wide tank, which would be 24 inches..still a squeeze for an adult male RT, like i said in a previous post, you are stocked with this fish in there, i really would not add any more fish, especially big cichlids..into your tank..unless you have plans for a bigger tank

maybe you should replace the RT with something that doesnt get so huge, like a severum..

go with a larger JD, a firemouth is a more laid back fish and would get picked on by the others, if you like jags, get a female, males are monsterous and very aggressive

texas cichlids would be a moderate choice, i would go with one of them in replacement for your RT..your best bet is either a texas or a dempsey

what is that fish on your avatar........ive had the gt for 2+ years...and hes not quite 10 inches ...prolly more like 7 or so and i just got the rt like 3 months ago..and its already doubled it size....i bought the rt and jd at the same time and the jd has barly grown he gets picked on pretty good from the rt now since he has a pretty good size on him now...i had a small gt also in their and i belive the rt killed it.......the jd eats good but hes not growing really...i think the only hope that fish has is if i remove it and put it in a smaller tank so it can grow so it can defend itself.......no one answered meon the pics....could'nt get them much larger with the phone cam......the gt is the boss in the tank...he shows he is witht he rt........i had a oscar with them at one time but i removed it....the gt beat it up pretty good till it got large enough to hold its own

the one in my avatar is a jack dempsey

gt's are very slow growing fish, i've had mine for almost a year now and its only grown 5 1/2 inches, while all my other fish have become monsterous, someone on a different forum has one that didnt reach full size untill it was 3 years old

re:

well, first, red terrors can grow to 35" in wild but 18" in aquarium, gts its true, they are slow growers, but like some of you know i have a pair of wild whitesaum gts(they were 4 but one male and three females, and he pair up with the females whitesaum.) and the male growed 2" till today since i caught him (one month ago, he is gorgeous by the way) so it means there are some exceptions. red terror, i like them but hate them, i have catch a male of 35" thats why i say that big, but in the tank of my uncle, 8years and just 16" and the female 13" in a 75gal. you can keep it but if he get too aggresive you will have to take it out, but size its not the problem, it is attitude.
