ok on dec 2 i did a 50% water change in my oscar tank, checked for ammonia nitrite and nitrate.
well amm 0
nitrite 0
and nitrate was 1.0

everything was fine nothing new was added to the tank except for fresh carbon in the filters and even the filters were cleaned throroughly.

well yesterday my husband noticed the one of the oscars was rubbing himself against the rocks and looking realluy tired and did not want to eat. the water was also cloudy.

well i did a 25% water change took the carbon out of filters and started the medications.

checked this morning and they are doing really good they are bac to eating and the water is getting clearer.

my question is what happened in a matter of three days.
nothing new was added, only thing done was my typical water changes and filter maintenance.

i have two emperor penguin 400 and i dont clean the two out at the same time.
i wait a week apart to cclean them. and this is done once a month. i change the carbon about every two months depending on how i find the filters.

and when i do a water change i pour some old tank water into a bucket and thats how i clean the biofilter and the sponge part. but the rest like the spray injectors i clean them with distilled water and my brush.

i have been doing this for quite a long time now.
and never had this problem unless my husband did something that he not fessing up too. LOL

i know im pulling my hair and reading anything that my search engine pulls up.

but my gut feeling is that my husband for quite a long tim has been bugging me to feed the oscars live food such as comets and small goldfish, because he loves watching them act like predators, so i think he might have gone behind my back and bought a fish for them to eat.

i guess im gonna have to interrogate him and threaten him to get the truth out.
