I've had my two cories in with my electric yellow cichlid, clown loaches and columbian tetra's for a while now.

I come home from the gym today to find one of my little guys up against the glass panting heavily. Upon closer inspection, I see his fins are ragged as well. At the same time, I see the cichlid come up and take two big chomps out of the cory!!! I immediately take the cory out and put him in my other tank with the neon and black phantom tetras. It's at that point I see that his eye is missing. The **** cichlid took his eye!! :sad

I don't know if he's going to make it now. I would never want this to happen to my little guy. Is there anything I can do to speed up his recovery?

Thanks in advance

Marcus

I think it would be better to move the aggressor than the victim in a tank. The change to a new tank will probably add stress to an already traumatized fish.

Also, is the Cichlid now attacking the other cory? It's an aggressive fish and will probably take out fish one at a time that can't stand head to head with him.

Good water quality is essential for the damaged cory. Daily water changes. Preferably in a quarantine tank where he is either alone or with a fellow cory or two, maybe.

I would reccommend Melafix. Some people believe it works great, other people say it does nothing. I believe it helps IME. So...well it won't hurt.

Stable temp, clean water, as little as possible stress factors.

I moved the other cory into the smaller tank as well.

Thanks for the advice but my little guy has just passed.

I think everything bar the tetra in that tank would pick on a little cory so as long as the other tank is running properly (fully cycled etc) then it would be best to get all corys out of there soon as poss.
