My power has been out for about three hours! They say it will not be back on until 10:00am (it is now 7:30am) Will my Bacteria be ok, I am at work so there is not much I can do.

One of my 10-gallon tanks is on a circuit with a switch. My wife often hits it by accident and the thing stays off until the morning. I just turn the switch on, wait a minute or two for the HOB filter to get all the air out. The temperature usually drops down a little, but I’ve never had any other problems with it being off all night.

if it's an HOB filter you could take one of those little bathroom cups and pour some tank water int othe HOB to keep your bio media wet :) that should keep them alive until the power comes back on I'd imagine. (I've had HOBs drain their water when the power goes out and run dry when it comes back on to the point wher it fries the motor)

Yes, if its HOB, pull the intake tube out to stop it from sucking water out of the filter and back into the tank, then put the tube back in, and fill the filter up with water. I learned that the hard way after dumping about 4 filters worth of water into the filter and scratching my head as to why it wasn't filling up.

Shouldn't be a problem. Last month my power was out for about 8 hours, my tank was fine. Temp only dropped about 3 degrees.
