Hi all,

Just noticed I have a guppy with a large belly and white stringy poo.
and a rosey tetra with a large belly and pale body.

do i need an antibacterial remedy? if so what are the brands i need to look out for (UK brands please :) )

p.s. I've got a q tank, but the filter media has only been maturing in a compartment of my cycled canister filter for a week now. Will that be okay or should i leave them where they are for now?

I've heard that white stringy poo is a sign of internal parasites.

You could try a food that contains medication to get rid of parasites--Jungle makes one (don't know if it's available in the UK).

Hope your fish are feeling better soon.

Another good remedy for internal parasites is Metronidazole. If they're still eating, soak their food in a little tank water with some Metro - it does much more good internally than if you add it to the water. There are several meds that are pure metronidazole, Hex-A-Mit is what I've bought in the past.
