Help on my starting fish tank.

Do you want planted or unplanted? What type of fish interest you(goldfish, chinese barbs, etc..)? Why do you want to go into coldwater?(I'm just curious, LOL, not criticizing, I have a love of goldfish. It can help to plan your tank if you have specific motivation.)

I dont know about the planted unplanted and i have goldfish in it now.

i mean i dont know if i want plants. they were feeder fish

I would say skip thinking about the plants right now and focus on what you need for the tank.
You say its a 30 gallon. Are you positive on the size? Dimensions?
You said their feeders, which are the ones that can/will get 12" long.
What kind of filter do you have?
Do you have water test kits?
Do you have water conditioner?
How many goldies do you have and how big are they?
Is this your only tank?
Do you plan on having any other fish besides the goldies?
Theres many more questions but to get some help from the knowledgeable folks here some questions must be answered by you.

I have water test kits. Prime water conditioner. 2 little ones. and i have a pond/fountain that they were originally in. yes i do plan on others.

You have a 30 gallon pond/fountain? Sorry can't picture what their in.

Don't be afraid to post in the forums, the more people that look see it the more help you will get. everyone here wants to make sure people get the help they need.

I' gonna quote your message in an answer to get the ball roling.

Ok.

Could you please explain as much as you can about the 30gal. Everything you have for it, the setup, last test parameters anything you can think of to give insight on whats going on.

It was a friend of mines. i have about half pond water and a quarter tap water and a quarter bottled water. The fish have white balls on them. I put in aquarium salt. the test strips colors dont look like the one on the bottle.
