Help-plant ID

Nope, I don't see any vals there but it's a nice looking tank, so clean still! lol Ludwigia is a stem plant like the hygro willow so root tabs are not necessary. Are you using just flourish or are you using the whole line (nitrogen, phosphate and potassium)?
 
Thanks, but not for long LOL... i am adding more plants next week, my ludwigia looks badly beaten when i got it from my LFS yesterday, not sure it will recover :-( is ludwigia a hardy plant? i use seachem flourish/ excel and root tabs as ferts.
 
If you are only using flourish, excel and root tabs you are missing all your macro nutrients N,P and K. Flourish is only the micro nutrients and as the name suggests the macro nutrients are more in demand than the micro ones. You do get some NPK from fish food, fish waste and decomposing plant material but it's not very much. Further more it looks like a 75g tank, could be a 40 breeder too but I'm guessing 75? If so (or even a 40 breeder) you will quickly learn that it gets expensive to use liquid ferts in a big tank, you are mostly paying for RO water with those anyways. You are better off with buying the ferts yourself and mixing up your own liquid ferts (using something like PMDD or PPS-pro dosing methods) or putting the dry ferts directly into the tank (something like EI). Let me know if you understood any of that then we can go from there. :D

Its a 75gal tank, its information overload ! LOL... ive been reading about the dry ferts,,, i wanna try it but i have no idea mixing chemicals and i dont know where to start( buying, what to buy). You said i can get the NPK from fish waste, fish food, if i overstock with fish would that help?

No, that would never help. You want to be in control of your ferts.

IMO--A 50 gal or larger would be too expensive to use Excel. CO2 would be a better and (in the long run) cheaper carbon sourse.

From your picture only the swords will need "root-food".

Dry ferts is nothing to be afraid of, trust me. It seems intimidating at first but is really simple. Don't think of it as chemicals it is just minerals. You can buy them from lots of places but to make it simple get your first batch from Bobstropicalplants dot com. He is a well known member here and has a starter package, it even has links to EI and PPS methods and he even sells the dosing bottle if you decide to do liquid dosing! I'm frugal and just bought a bottle of ACT mouthwash myself. :) HERE is a direct link to the package.

Tanker is right, excel will be costly on a 75g. Pressurized CO2 would be the way to go but if you keep lower light plants under low light (what lights do you have?) and maintain your fert schedule you could get away without CO2. But start looking into it because CO2 really makes a BIG difference in plant growth, health and algae control. In the mean time buy the big bottles of excel! :)

I never had a problem either but others have reported them acting sluggish and lethargic.

That's the one. Mixing formula depends on which method you use. If you don't mind big weekly water changes EI seems to be a good beginner choice. Without CO2 you might want to use the "light EI" method, you just use a little less than what they list. Fertilizing isn't an exact sicence you just need to get the nutrients in there on a regular steady basis, the science comes in with balancing your light and CO2 requirements with your plants demands. :)

While you are ordering look around he has tons of stuff! What is your GH? You may need some GH booster too if you don't have enough hardness.
