Hi. I`m getting back into aquaria after a short hiatus. I just picked up a 20 gal (24X12X16inches) I want to keep some Neon or Cardinal Tetras, as well as maybe some Zebra Danio or White Clouds (whatever I can find) I`ve kept these successfully in the past.

What else do you suggest for a community tank and how many of each? I know the Tetra are schoolers, so I would get a half dozen or so. I was thinking of a Chorydora?

I won`t be setting up for at least a few months (have to finish the rec-room floor first)

I have a power filter, heater, etc. Not sure if I want to go with live plants or not, yet.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

some marbled hatchets for the top, maybe 4-6 for a 20 gal, and 6 of almost any corydoras species that you like would like nice, also IF you have money i would recomend a larger tank, not for any other reason than stocking capabilities are pretty limited to a 20 gallon, in something a bit larger, say, 3 or 4 foot, you open up a HUGE amount of "centerpiece" fish that can be kept, but if you dont have room or money, than that won't work.
 
Timmy, I wanted to go bigger, but space limitations in my rec-room pretty much decided that 20 was as big as I could go without building my own taller tank.

One of my local pet shops is going out of business. I normally don`t deal with them because I had a lot of fish die from them in the past. I thought it was me, but I had fish from other shops in the area survive during the same time periods. Anyway, they were selling tanks for 35% off. I decided then to replace my 3 and 10 gallon tanks with one 20.

It has been about 6 years since I had an operating aquarium, but hope to have the rec-room finished and the stand built and tank cycled by June. Not that it is a big job, but I volunteered for a major assignment at work, so I`m losing a lot of spare time at home for the next month and a half.
 
yea... I hear that, I caught MTS like the friggin plague when I started keeping fish. All the room you have is what you have, but you still have a lot of time to decide what you like.
