Help sexing texas cichlid

Hi all im new here. Long time reader 1st time poster.

Looking for help sexing my texas cichlid

The first 2 pics look male to me. The 3rd is harder to tell...judging by the longer pointed anal fin it might be male too. I assume they're fairly small, yes?

What size is your tank? It's difficult to keep even 2 8 inch adult males in any tank less than 6 feet long. They will fight, often to the death of smaller ones. A pair may also kill all other fish so they can breed without interlopers.

A single Texas might be more compatible other fish but it can be iffy.

Hi thanks for replying, the 3 pics are of the same fish and about 6 inch long, i have it alone in a 2ft tank but im about to upgrade to a 4 ft tank. But had a suspicion the fish might be a male. Thankyou so much for your feeback.

A 4ft tank "may be" ok for a single 6 inch fish. A 55g, 75g or 90g? Do you have hopes of keeping other fish with it? Maybe a mid-size pleco at most...

Big cichlids have great "personalities", they can become almost "water puppies" for cuteness & some trainability. Enjoy!

At this stage im just going to keep him by himself, possibly a pleco later on
