Hi.
I do not know if my sunset platy is sick, or not happy, or maybe to warm (hard to keep the tank at the perfect temp on summer days). He appears to be either very skinny - or loosing scale color, I'm not sure which, but I can now see the outline of his insides. He seems to eat when I feed. But his personality has also changed... sulking behind the tank decore, hiding out in the cave with the otos.
I did loose a tetra about a month ago, but the tetra did not seem to have any obvious signs like the platy has.
Last week, when I noticed the platy was not looking good, I did a water check, the Nitrates were high which has never happened before. The temp has been averaging in the high 70's. Because of this, I havent had the tank light on in weeks...is that a bad thing? Also havent had the hood on the the tank, just a screen...could I be exposing my fish to more bacteria by not covering the tank?
