Kyle, honey, you need to figure out how to downsize your pictures--do you have a pc or a mac? Go to the photo edit and "crop" it down--or on photobucket. It's so hard to tell any details of your barb in the photo. Good luck!! And, by the way, no I'm not a dimwit. I think that was the Scarecrow's function.
Tiger barbs DO NOT give birth to live young. They are egg layers. Your fish is either full of eggs or has dropsy. I can't tell as I'm not sure how fat tiger barbs get when they are full of eggs.
My Tiger Barbs looked like that when I accidently overfed them. When I first got my Corys, I fed them with a whole alge wafter, which was too much. The Barbs ate the remainder after they had already had their fill of flakes. They were noticably bulging. The next day was a fasting day, and by that evening they were back to normal.
I have some tigers that look like they're carrying eggs, the problem is that the top fin is red, and I read that only males have the top fin red...is this true? I also seperated that fish thinking it was a female, put her in a breeding aquarium and when i brought the male in 3 days later they didnt do anything. The aquarium was in optimal shape, and there was a lot of plants.
