I recently bought a 33 gal that came with 4 cichlids, and i don't know what kinds they are. Would anyone be able to help me identify them?

I would like a couple or few more fish, but don't know what types would be compatible. I really like the look of the electric blue kind, do you think they would get eaten?

The four i have look like this:

1. 3 inch long bright yellow fish that is very FAST swimming around haywire nonstop. He has a black stripe along the top of his top fin and the bottom of his bottom fin.

2. 3 inch long fish that's grey(ish) with vertical black stripes. Not much else stands out for description, his boddy is more disc shaped and thicker than the yellow guy.

3. 5 inch long yellow fish with 5 black vertical stripes. (almost 50-50 black and yellow color). Less disc shaped than 2, more classical fish shaped.

4. 6 inch long most of body dark grey with one long blue stripe that runs horizontally along the middle of his body. His head is greyish blue too.

Any help in identifying these fish and possibly suggestings kinds that would go well with them would be greatly appreciated.

This post might be long and in the wrong spot, but i am trully WTB fish, just don't know what!

3 inch long bright yellow fish with a black stripe along the top of his top fin and the bottom of his bottom fin. Labidochromis caeruleus

yellow fish with 5 black vertical stripes Pseudotropheus flavus

your other fish are questionable .. grey is not a common color among african cichlids, which i'm guessing is what you've got? perhaps you mean light blue?

as for buying more ... your tank is not big enough. African cichlids require that they be kept as 1 male + 4 females of the same species. (1) your tank is too small to achieve the proper number ... a 40 gallon breeder would be the minimum in my opinion. if you get a larger tank, i'd suggest (2) you make sure you've got 5 (1M+4F). since you've already got one Labidochromis caeruleus you would be in a good position to concentrate on that species. since it's not easy to sex juvenile fish, you should buy 6-7 and take back those that end up being inappropriately sexed.

if you have a mix of fish you'll end up hybridizing them which is not well regarded in the cichlid community.

i think your right, the biggest one with one long horizontal stripe along its body is actually light blue and not grey.

i think the small one with vertical stripes is a convict or zebra cichlid.

thanks for the help and advice.
