Hey gang need a little help with this:

I have a recently (heavily) planted 40g that i am considering using pressurized CO2 on. Up to this point I have been using DIY CO2 and have only been able to obtain CO2 levels of about 15ppm. I am really trying to grasp this whole CO2/Kh/Ph thing.

From my limited understanding of pressurized systems which incorporate the use of a PH monitor you basically set the Ph for the level desired to give you let's say 25ppm of CO2 and the system will release CO2 until that PH is achieved .........Right?

My concern is this....looking at different tables (PH/KH) for my KH of 4 I would have to achieve a ph of say 6.7 to put me in a range of 25-30ppm. If this is true I would be dropping from a current ph of 7.6 to 6.7 which is a difference of 0.9......would this change occur at such a rate that it would affect my tank inhabitants (neons, SAE's, and Cherry shrimp).

Thanks for any input

No. pH changes in and of themselves have little effect on fish; they can adjust to a difference that great in a couple of hours.

The effects of pH are much overstated.
