Yeah, if you're handy enough with tools you should be able to get it done with a dremel. I've had to take edging off of a tank before to make hoods fit, although I was cutting ABS, not acrylic
If the thickness of the lid is less then a quarter inch use a utility knife (new blade) and trace with washable marker the part you wana remove and follow the makes with the blade several time til it is nice and deep, than you can snap it like glass or finish going though with the blade. It works nicely and leave realatively clean cuts.
well. i finished cuttin it, no cracks, but i didnt round the edges, it took a while, and my cheap generic dremmel was no help, i instead used a thin saw blade to cut it.
