I am new to arowanas and i just bought a 3 inch arowana today. I know these things get huge so i'm wondering how long would it last in this aquarium and how much times i need to change the water a week? What do i feed it, is it possible to feed it pellets since live food is kinda too expensive on the daily.. and where would i be able to find floating pellets if it was possible and how often do i feed it.. the man at the fish store told me to feed it 5 little guppies a day and the arowana would last me a year and a half in the 55 gal.
.. is this true.! please help! thanks people, appreciiate it if u would. thanx!

what kind of arowana is it? It's possible to get it on pellets, but asians are a little bit more picky. Try not to get it on feeders, in the long run it'll cost you a lot and it's also not that healthy for them. Try feeding pellets, if not you can try frozen shrimp/prawns, mealworms, etc.

I dont think it would be an asian since they are illegal in the states, also if he/she is worried about paying for feeders there is no way they would have spent roughly 350 US dollars to buy the least expensive green aro. Most likely it is a silver. yes that is basically all I feed mine with the occasional ghost shrimp guppies rosy reds. try feeding them a few crickets that way they see the food at the top. I'd do this once or twice and than throw in some freeze dried krill. Once they are excepting that it is good to put pellets in. Also its good to have another fish in there that will eat from the top that way you get the monkey see monkey do idea. if you have any other questions just ask

A friend of mine kept a young silver arowana (think it was about 6") in a 125g tank, it took it about 6-7 months to double its size and outgrew the tank.

i have a silver arowana. so feed it dry frozen krill til it gets use to it and get it pellets?how much krills should i feed it a day. and which types of pellets should i feed it and how much of the pellets? when would i also know to give it more because it'll get bigger and stuff? thank you soo much people!!

first just try one or two pieces of krill break them in half and than put them in there. I would deffinetly put small crickets in first. I use floating carnivore pellets

well if the aro eats those real readily maybe throw another half in if it eats it try another one. but w/e he/she doesnt eat just net out because you dont want it to fowl up your water.
