Good morning,

I have a 75gal bow front setup for little over two months.

Filtration: Fluval 404 and a just recently added Emperor 400 biowheel.
No Undergravel Filter.

Substrate: Natural medium sized rocks purchased at local pet store.

Lighting: Coralife aqualight plus contains 2 65W day and 2 65W actinic and moon lights.

Ornaments: all artificial plants, 5 pieces of malasian driftwood and 10 or so rocks all purchased at local pet store.

300W heater temp is currently at 83.2f.

Latest water samples: Nitrite/nitrate=0, Amonia=0, Ph=7.6.

History of tank: Orifinally this tank was a saltwater marine tank. I sold everything in it and cleaned the inside of the tank with just water and paper towels did the same with the fluval filter.

As mentioned tank has been running for little over 2 months now. At first I noticed a white cloudy presence. Just figured it was a bacterial bloom and did partial water changes twice a week. Water never became clear. After one month in desparation I did a complete water change. Water remained crystal clear for 3 days than became cloudy again. Continued partial water changes weekly for one month now water is still cloudy and it looks to have a yellowish tint to it. Very frusrated. I have other tanks in the house with no problems at all. I am wondering if maybe the conversion of salt water to fresh has something to do with this.

Let me know your thoughts please.

what kind of plant life? with the nitrie/nitrate of absolute 0 they might be dieing off. other than that i got's nothing. good luck, i'll be keeping an eye on this as it happens to me now and them for no appreant reason except my plants dieback at the same time.

Algae?

You might want to think about lowering your lighting if you don't have any live plants. It could be a type of algae bloom since the water stays clear for a few days then reappears after a 100% water change.

Theres you problem. You have a MASSIVE amount of light for a plantless tank. I would remove at least 2 bulbs maybe 3.

Definately an algae problem. Nitrates should not be testing at 0 in a plantless tank unless you are loaded with algae. Get rid of some of you lights and only turn the tank lights on when you are in the room or you have guests coming over. The fish won't mind just the ambient room lighting.
