OK - this is my Minnie - She is the one that gave birth almost a month ago since then she has still been "chubby" and seems like each day she gets even more chubbier -

She eats and acts perfectly normal
The gravid spot isn't dark like it was before when I KNEW she was pregnant
Her poopie has been a normal brownish color

Here are my numbers :

Tank Size - 30 Gallons
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - .10ppm

I feed them tropical flakes what they will consume in a few mins 2x a day
I also give them some Freeze Dried Bloodworms and some sundried baby shrimp from time to time - they enjoy those...

Any idea what is goin on or is she pregnant again or what ? Im clueless
I do have her in isolation just incase ....
She is the only one in the tank that looks like this.

She looks pregnant. I think I can see little eyes in the middle picture. If there is a male in with her then she can have babies every 5 weeks.

I was able to get some closer pics - I reckon she is pregnant again :duh:

o yeah. shes pregnant again, Good luck! It's been months since I've had babies in the tanks :(

awwwwwwww im sorry - I am willing to share some of my babies with ya lol Between the 23 fry ** 8 Mickey Mouse Platies and 15 Swordtails ** I already have and the other green swordtail due anytime now and now Minnie I could open up my own baby fry store lol

She looks like all my females, fat and prego.

I have lyretail sword/mickey platy hybrid-overdue, that is colered just like her with yellow lyretail fins. I cant wait to see her babys.

The ownderful world of live bearers

I have in the past put the female into a seperate tank to have her babies then remove her as I wanted to keep as many fry as I could since this really has been my first time in raising fry. I currently have 2 females that are pregnant - 1 Green Swordtail that is due any day now and Minnie the Mickey Mouse Platy that will have hers soon ... I also believe that my dalmation molly is pregnant again as well but she isn't showing as much as the others but I have noticed that she has changed colors from black and white to more of a black and greyish color - I noticed that the last time she was pregnant she did this and then afterwards she went back to white and black lol kinda weird but kewl at the same time

I am not sure if I will seperate them this time or not or just let nature take its course and see how many survive.

I don't know if I could sit there and watch them eat the babies....too sad. I did not realize (newbie) that Mickey Mouse Platys were live bearers. My son is dead set on getting some when we start our tank. How many would you suggest in a group? I have a 75 gallon tank and I know I want some glofish and clown loaches in there but I haven't decided on anything else. I now have to get some of the Mickey Mouse Platys for him.

I will more than likey put them in the nursery tank to have the fry and then within a couple of days put them into the fry tank.

I am not sure how many you should get as I am still learning about how many of each to have and how they do in groups and how many you can have in different size tanks and such .... I have 3 Mickey Mouse Platys at the moment... maybe someone else who has more expierence with them in groups can answer your question better than I can .. The largest tank I have is 30Gallons so I am not sure about a 75Gallon one.
