Help with my FAVORITE Fish Death Diagnosis

That information I got from a fish hatchery employee. Added the part about a massive amount of space though, I guess I got a little carried away. Also I lived in Peru for three years. I know where these fish live, pirahnas have the whole amazon river to swim in. They usuallly live on the edges of the river with no or little current. They taste horrible and they will not attack you if you swim in the water, only if you lie very still at the surface.

Space

RIght now my tank has very few fish, lost one more today, DOH. But I agree, your fish should have sufficient space to "enjoy life". When my rainbow was in the tank he appeared to be quite happy. There was good circulation, the water quality was fine. It was the tropicals (purchased from pet store) with ICK that caused the problem. The system was well balanced, with snails, several live plants, ample cover (for the bala's and pleco's). Rainbows are a sensitive fish, but having sampled them now for years I have seen some take a lot of abuse and still live.

ANyway, thanks for all your help. I am attempting to clear the ICH (using ICH clear, not salt, since I dont' have a hospital tank for the snails (3 apple's and six small planorbids).

Cheers!
