Hello again! I would like some information or advice on some plants. In my tank I have what I believe is an Amazon Sword that is very lush and green which is growing wonderfully, some dwarf hair grass that is thinning but still growinga bit taller, and some Anubias Nana (2 small pieces) that isn't doing great either. I'd like to know a bit about tending to the anubias and also the grass, of course I read up on them before getting them but they aren't doing too well or growing as I expect they should. All the anubias seems to be doing is staying the same size, both around 3", and browning and yellowing its leaves, but it's roots seem to be white and growing some. I use flourish twice a week and my water is in "good shape". I was thinking maybe my lighting might be having an effect on it but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Thanks!:)

Sound like either you do not have enough, or the correct lights.

Since my supposed amazon sword is flourishing greatly do you think it could just be that the anubias has a demand for high lighting?

No, the Sword grows taller, so it can reach more light. From my experience, some Anubius does not like high light.

Really? I don't understand why mine aren't growing then...My boyfriend got an Anubias a week or so before I got mine and they were both the same size, now his is humongous and mine are staying dwarfs. I have a 24" National Geographic Light Bar

I have never used LED lights, so not sure there. How did you "plant" yours??

I left the main root if thats what you call it out of the sand like I've read you should and buried the smaller roots

Generally, DHG needs very high light, and/or CO2 to do well. Ive seen it survive without that, but not thrive. With the anubias, the rhizome is the big part where the roots and stems come off of. It needs to be out of the substrate. Preferably, you should tie or glue it to a rock or piece of wood rather than bury it. Is there anything different about your BFs tank? as far as lighting or maintenance? Anubias is rather slow growing. My tank has pretty high light and when I got some it took a few months to adjust, most of the original large leaves died off, and now I have a couple dozen small leaves sprouting up.

The other thing with anubia is, it grows extremely slowly. Gotta be patient.

The only thing different is the lights and his tank is a 50 gal. But his is growing crazy fast
