Ok. I've been keeping fish for decades, but suddenly everything I get dies within a few weeks. Over 3 months, I've had 10 fish die.

All I've been doing differently:
1. I have some very simple plants the store said were low maintenance.
2. I'm using RO/DI water for changes (I used to use conditioned tapwater.) And doing these more frequently than before, as I got in the habit from reef keeping.

We need much, much more info to help you. What were your tap water parameters before you switched to RODI? Why did you switch? What fish were you keeping? Tank size, current water parameters, plants, current fish...well everything. Details please!

I've never kept saltwater but I know they are very different as far as water changes go...& other stuff too.

I'll test my tapwater. I used to test my freshwater, but stopped because I never ever had an issue. I live in the same town, so figured the water would be fine. I didn't give much thought to ultrapure water being a bad thing though. With reefs, we add all of the disolved stuff, so the purest possible going in is ideal. I haven't kept a freshwater tank for about 3 years though, so I should have thought a little more.

I've had "seasonal water" in the last 2 places I've lived (both US coasts) & it made big differences between summer & winter water sources. RODI (I think) removes GH & KH & could be a part of your trouble unless you're using something to add them back...Not something I've dealt with. I hope others can help.

Where, in a vague way, do you live? State, Province, county or nearby big city? Often water issues are regional too. On AC we have people from all over, especially in the US, but other places too. For internet safety's sake do NOT give your address please! I'm shocked people do that sometimes
