Hi Friends,
I came here on account of saving a goldfish. Some of you may know about the famous feeder goldfish named goliath. Would it be O.K. for him to live in a 74*F ten gallon with a Tiger Barb? The Tiger Barb was in a school but the rest of the TB's died and I plan to replace them soon. But would this particular goldfish be alright? (He is 3" and he was left to live in a bowl, I think he can fend for himself) The ONLY reason the tank is 74 degrees is because it's winter and I haven't adjusted the heater yet.
Not to mention the poor goldfish probably stunted a long time ago.

How long do you plan on keeping the goldfish in the 10 with the tiger barb? It should be ok temporarily, but watch the tiger barb to make sure he doesnt nip the goldfish. You will probably want to try to feed the fish seperately too, feeding the tiger barb tropical food and the goldfish goldfish food... The setup might not be the best for the goldfish, but at least it will be better than a bowl. Keep an eye on ammonia and nitrite too, the bioload in the tank is about to go way up.

OK - I would be prepared for once-a-day water changes. Do you know if the goldfish would be interested in jumping? I have the tank pretty much covered up but if necessary I could cover up a little hole near the filter output. I am planning on feeding a mix of goldfish and tropical flakes, plus bloodworms.

I will be keeping the goldfish until I can get him his own 10g.

I am crossing my fingers they will be OK with each other, but that goldfish is FAST! I have seen him get a bowl-water change before. I don't see how you could net him if you had to!

Phew, I am glad I can save this goldfish. If everyone knew that bowls cause organ failure, That would be a great thing!

Goldfish will sometimes jump out if given the chance. Cover all spaces that you think he can jump through.... and even ones you think he cant.

okay I will.

Actually he is being given to someone with a goldfish pond in the spring, I just want to save him for that long.
