I just got home today and I noticed that my 4 Guppies (2 Male 2 Female) have gotten MUCH fatter. I also noticed that one of my female guppies has some sort of skin damage on its tail, it's all pink wiht skin is peeling she seems to be in a realy bad condition since she's stays at the very top of the tank barely moving. Does anyone know what's happening to my fish? Do you think I'm overfeeding them?

Oh, and my tank has been cycling for almost two weeks now, with my guppies and two cory cats.

I realy don't want my fish to die... :( So please try to help me...

Here's a picture of what the sick female looks like:

What size tank is this? What are your ammonia, nitrite and nitrates? Are there scales sticking out at all? Are they gasping at the surface or just hanging out there?

At the moment I can'r check the ammonia, nitrite or nitrate (don't have testers). The only thing I can tell you is that I have a 20 gal tank with a Ph of 7.

Until you can get kits, and/or get to the LFS to find out, a water change is your best line of defense. I would say at least 50%. If you're still cycling, that is probably the problem. Ammonia is really hard for fish to handle when it gets too high and water changes are the best way to bring it down since you're doing a fishy cycle. You'll want to pick up your own test kits ASAP so you can tell when you are cycled, and how often/how much you need to do water changes!! Good luck

My Guppie is about to die! It swims to the very top of the tank and then it drops down to the bottom of the tank head first until it hits the gravel with its head, it then goes back up again and the process repeats itself... She will probably die any minute now...

Is there anything I can do?

Should I remove her before she completely dies off?

PLEASE SUMBIT QUICKLY!!!

50%water change now,be sure to use water conditioner!!Then pick up a test kit,the liquid kits are best.

You still need to be doing water changes,or else all your other fish will die too!

About 5 hours before the fish died I did a 20% water change... I can't do another one now since it's 1:34 am and my parents are sleeping (I'm only 14)

You had better do a water change in the morning, before you go to school then.Make sure you use water conditioner.
