Which hermits will get along, and which won't. Are any more aggressive than others? Is territory size a concern?

What do you mean in a reef tank f.o. etc? I'm not sure what you're getting at sorry.

Sorry, 29g FOWLR tank, maybe converting to reef in the next year. I have some zebra hermits, and some scarlet leg hermits. The blue legs I had were all killed, I presume, by the larger red and zebra hermits. Now the reds are disappearing, even though they are larger than the zebra hermits. Other tankmates are an emerald crab, porcelain crab, arrow crab, 2 peppermint shrimp, a PJ Cardinal, and a pygmy cherub angel. Various snails.
The angel is looking stressed, with some fin damage, so I believe I have an aggressor in the tank, but I can't figure out who.

I'd suspect the arrow more than any of your other critters although I'd think that it would be more likely to eat shrimp than crabs . Number two on my suspect list would be a hungry emerald are you making sure that your clean up crew is getting enough to eat or that they are all identified correctly though? A lot of hermits look alike if they really are zebras they are pretty small and their left claw will be bigger than the right in all cases. I'm asking because I bought some zebs that were very mis-identified.

Well I thought the Scarlet reds were the best and friendliest but I have to rethink that. I used to have 2 dozen nassarius snails in my FOWLR tank but they died out and I have to blame my scarlets. I used to have both the electric blues and scarlets together and the scarlets disappear. But now some say the Blues are more timid than the scarlets so I have no idea which are the best to have together. My Scarlets are still there but are they the best, I don't know. Who really know out there which are compatible?
