hermit crabs

I have a newly set up 10-gallon with one Ocellaris clown. Even though I feed him carefully, some food has gotten away from him.

Is the tank too new to put a blue-legged hermit crab in there to help scavenge around? Could I throw a hermit crab a pellet every couple days until the tank is more established?

Ph- 8.3
SG- 1.022

A single hermit requires very little...you shouldn't have to do anything special to keep it happy.
