Hey Mngournda.....

Hey Dave got a question for ya, I finally bought a used coralife superskimmer it was used for about 4 months, I set it up in my 30 gallon and it was putting way too many bubbles in my tank and in the main chamber of the skimmer there wasn't that many bubbles and at the top in the collection cup there where no bubbles just water, can you tell my why?

Maybe. Even though the skimmer is broken in, your water may not be. That sounds weird, but I mean that your unskimmed water probably has a lot of surfactants and may generate a lot of fizz.

There are a few things that might help. First, a little time will probably be needed for things to settle down. Second, I found that having the tube that goes into the bubble trap going at an angle rather than straight down helps get rid of some of the fizz.

How much have you played with the valve on the output?

There's a ball valve between the powerhead and the skimmer body. Maybe try cutting the flow there for a day or so. You won't get a lot of skimmate, but it may help with the break in.

I'm just guessing here.

Hey Dave, I went ahead and cut the intake tube to raise the pump closer to the water surface, and I also cut the tube going into the bubble difuser because it was a little to long, every time I put it in the box it would not fit correctly. So I cut it to fit and lifted the box just above the water level and it is working perfectly!

Adjust the height of the bubbles in the chamber by turning the outlet valve. Turning it counterclockwise should lower the level and make drier skimmate.

Which one do you do, dry or wet? And when dry skimming when you lower the bubbles in the chamber, does it actually rise high enough to make it in the collection cup? And one more question, right before the valve there is a little piece of plastic where you can put some airline tubing on it, what is that for, currently I don't have anything on it? Also I noticed that my skimmer is a bit noisy where the silencer is there is a piece of airline tubing that connects to the pump to the silencer and there is another opening on the silencer, looks like another place to add airline tubing is there anyway to make it quiet, I tried to plug it up but when I do that water overflows the collection cup and makes a big mess, please help!
