I just bought a pleco for my 55 gallon cichlid tank and I wanted some more info on it. The tank said Hi Fin Pleco but I haven't found any information on them and I was hoping anyone knew anything about them like how big they get.

I have a common pleco in my 55 gallon tank, he is 15 years old, and i say he is happy.

He is about 11", and he has NO problems turning around in the tank.

I would not get a bristle nose, because they dont really do anything to the tank other than be ugly.

I wouldn't say that. Some people actually enjoy the look of these exotic fish. And they are probably the most effective Pleco at actually eating algea.

If your pleco is a common, well, there are so many slightly different species sold as commons that it's hard to predetermine what it's max size is. Some can get up to 18". If perhaps it is a Sail Fin Gibbiceps, then 18" is likely.

I've decided to keep him and will aqquire a new tank when he reachers 7-8 inches. What size tank would be appropriate for one of these and a few other fish?
