I'm new to this thing and also a newbie fish owner. I have a question though, if I can ask it here. I have a red male betta that is losing his coloration. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Thanks.

Make sure to include:

-Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, hardness
-size of tank, cycled?
-what type of food being fed...any loss of appetite?
-any other unusual behavior

And btw, welcome to AC!!!

Hello and Welcome to the AC...

I agree with what Jpappy said...go to the freshwater forum and even the newbie section of freshwater...

I have my betta in a 2.5 gallon tank, he's beiing fed regular betta food pellets, and how do I test for nitrate, pH, hardness? What do you mean, cycled? He's acting ok, his activity level really hasn't changed and he eats well.

Buy a test kit that includes ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH.

And welcome!
