HOB filter not working

[confusion]

I was performing water changes today and noticed that the HOB filter on the 29G tank in my office wasn't pumping water. I pulled the neck out and had a bit of a surprise.

A few months ago, I put a piece of a plant (it's some common house plant vine - the name escapes me) It is amazing how plants will grow with ample light, water and nutrients.

Looks like Pothos. A very easy going house plant...I had a friend leave one in his room that stayed pretty much void of sunlight and it was without water for over 2 months. Somehow the thing stayed alive!

So wait a sec....I didn't have the sound up to hear the video but it looks like... it took root IN your filter... grew vines up both sides of your window... and you just now figured out where it was coming from? LOL that's awesome

I actually had the same thing happening, but in my sponge filter in my paludarium, lol!

I knew it would happen eventually and I've been keeping an eye on it. The roots went through the filter pad and go down into the tank some time ago, so I am surprised that the filter worked for as long as it did.
