So, got to looking at my tank and studying my fishes. I just noticed that one of my female swordtails has a hole in her side. There is no blood or pink tissue. Don't see any white to suggest fungus. Its just like she was born with the hole, no discolor of the area at all.

She's been moved to my QT. Been looking though websites to check what she may have.. Nothing seems to fit. Could she have hit against something? I know my male chases the females time to time.

Can't get a pic of it, my camera is too crappy

Aeromonas/pseudomonas can cause large holes/sores to open up in fish. In any case, pics/ tank specifics would go a long way towards getting to the bottom of what the issue might be.

Lol, yeah that pic is not much help at all. Can you isolate her to a small glass or specimen container? If you can't pick up a good pic, taking a short video would be an easier way for us to see more detail.

ok, the photos aren't much better, but maybe they'll help. I circled the area where the hole is. I know it looks white in the photo, but the hole has no odd color, its gray like her body color. Almost looks like a dent in her side.

It looks like an old injury, if she is behaving normally, no discoloration, no open would, you may just have a healed fish. She may have had the injury when you got her, and as she developed or was pregnant it became more noticeable! It looks like nothing to worry about!:hi:

In the beginning stages of an aeromonas infection, the wound can look very much like that. If it continues to get deeper, or opens up into a hole in her body cavity, then aero/pseudomonas is the most likely culprit. I'd read up on how to treat it (not easy) and in the mean time, add some salt to the water to reduce the stress she feels trying to regulate her osmotic pressure. Careful observation over the next few days to see whether the lesion is getting better or more severe would be warranted in figuring out your next step.
