Hornwort in my opinion is best left floating, keep in mind it also prefers cooler water.
i just bought some hornwort myself, and from what i hav found your tank should make it just as happy as can be. personaly i like the free floating look of it and am going to leave it like that.

Hornwort lacks true roots, but you can "plant" it in the gravel and the part you plant will eventually anchor itself with rudimentary roots, or you can just leave it free-floating. I usually root mine to provide a green background for my planted tanks, since its cosmopolitan and fits in well with my biotope-oriented tanks.
