I placed a couple bunches of hornwort in a 15 gallon fry tank to out-compete algae, but my wife has been complaining about a fishy stinky smell in the fish room for the past couple days.
I traced the smell to that fry tank and when I pulled the hornwort out the smell was very intense on the plant.
Is this normal for that plant? I only bought it as a disposable cheap and fast growing plant to slow algae growth and absorb excess nitrates produced by fast growing fry.
I tossed some carbon into the filter this morning to see if the smell would go away.
