hornwort

If you are breeding livebearers or bubblenest builders, hornwort is a fast growing plant that will provide shelter to comfort adults and protect fry. For egg layers, hornwort will neither provide a surface to lay eggs on nor protect eggs on the bottom. Also hornwort and milfoil require temperatures lower than 75 or else they melt/rot and this will affect breeding fish in different ways.

Depends. As said, its is espically good for live bearers and bubble nesters. The bubble nesters will build their nests on the plants, if its floating. If its not floating (some hornwort floats some doesn't) then it will be good for egg layers that lay their eggs in the substrate. Some fish lay their eggs on vertical surfaces, so hornwort won't help very much.

Depends on the species of fish, is what everyone is saying :)

Most rainbowfish will spawn in hornwort, however, Pseudomugil rainbowfish (blue eyes) prefer spawning in mops or java moss on the bottom of the tank.
