I was thinking about getting one.I saw them last week at the pet store and they are so cool. But I am not sure.So any advice?

They will more than likely die in a tank, or if they do live they reach up to 2 feet across and knock down all your rock.

ohhhh see they don't tell you that at the lfs..I wont something that will really stir up the sand bed.I have crabs and the snails and a goby but nothing gets stirred up..My tang stirs up more when she beats the sand with her tail..Any ideas what would do a real good job?

yep, yep. I am pretty sure major cause of death is lack of food, which they need all the time. They are one of the most fragile of the inverts. Very active. and need room. but very inexpensive. like they all said... it will more than likely die over a a couple months.

Do u have Nassarius snails?? They do a great job. What kind of goby do u have? They dont all sift sand.

i second the conch.
how big a tank? the 135?
that should be pleaty of room for a conch. i also like sand sifting stars, but for some reason people like to knock them. mine does a fine job of keeping the tank clean

The reason people don't like sand sifting stars is because they don't live long in the aquarium environment. They go through the sand eating everything they can find until there is nothing left. After this they starve to death and die under the sand and u don't know that they r dead until your water chemistry starts going haywire. And they can do this fairly quickly depending on how big the tank is and how long it has been running, but its inevitable in time.
