I have a 10 gal aquarium around and was thinking of equiping it to be a hospital tank. My question is on filtration. I like the idea of keeping a box style filter in my established tank to iliminate the cycle problem, but is one of these little things going to be enough? It would only ever have like 2 fish in it cuz of its size, and thats if it gets used. (I hope not!)
Anybody have links to a good little filter I could use for this purpose? I don't want a HOT filter simply because I've read on here that you aren't suposed to return the filter to the main tank, as it may contain bactiria or medication, An'd I don't want to buy new cartriges for a filter that isn't doing anything most of the time.

I would use a simple sponge filter- after you use it you can disinfect it in any number of ways or even just replace the sponge.
Plus- in a hospital aquarium keeping the water as clean as possible is a good first line of defense, so there will be lots of water changes.

This is very true. I realize that I would be doing large water changes often, and I somehow didn't connect this to the filter capacity... Then again, its 2am so my mind is off in a watery wonderland where filters and water changes take care of themselfs... I think i need to go to bed!
